W.A.T.C.H. Releases 2022 Top 10 Worst Toys List

Toys are among the most joyful items a child could receive as a gift during the holidays. Unfortunately, some toys may cause harm.

World Against Toys Causing Harm, Inc. (W.A.T.C.H.) recently published its list of the “10 Worst Toys” for the holiday season. If you plan on giving a child one of the toys listed, you might want to research and reconsider. Here is the 2022 top 10 Worst Toys list according to W.A.T.C.H.:

  • Cocomelon Musical Learning Watch: Potential for battery ingestion. Choking hazards are very dangerous for young children in particular.

  • Disney Raya’s Action and Adventure Sword: This toy might cause blunt force injuries or injure a child’s eye.

  • Li’l Woodzeez Tickle-Your-Taste-Buds Bakery: Potential for choking injuries.

  • Zeus Lion: Potential for in ingestion/aspiration injuries. This toy might result in a child swallowing an eye or another part. The hair could also come loose and create a breathing hazard for a child.

  • Dingray Musical Bath Toy: Potential for ingestion and choking injuries. Small parts or batteries might choke a child or otherwise become ingested.

  • Ooze Labs Chemistry Station: The chemistry set might cause chemical-related injuries to a child.

  • Bunny Rabbit Cuddly Pillow: The pillow might result in the accidental suffocation of a small child.

  • Pop’n Fridget Spinners: Potential for choking injuries.

  • Black Panther Wakanda Battle Claws: Potential for eye and facial injuries.

Toy Hazards for Small Children

On average, hospital emergency rooms treat a child for toy-related injuries about every three minutes. About 198,000 children suffered injuries caused by their toys in 2020. Another 51 died from injuries caused by toys from 2018 through 2020.

Many toys have hidden dangers that parents often overlook. Some might have small parts or batteries that children might put into their mouth and begin choking. A fluffy toy might cause a child to suffocate. Others might cause blunt-force injuries, cuts, or scrapes.

There are many ways in which a child might suffer a personal injury while playing with a poorly designed toy. An experienced attorney could help you hold manufacturers accountable if your child suffers an injury from a defective toy.
